– An incredibly vibrant scene with everything from fashion, music and interiors to food and spirituality.

With the pandemic in the rear-view mirror (fingers crossed), summer 2022 is the time to fly off abroad.

But after several years of standing still, you might need a little outside help. Because where do you eat the tastiest food in Marbella, which places should you visit on the French Riviera and where is the coolest place to hang out in Ibiza?

In this series, Melk & Honning talks to influencers, fashion people and celebrities to get their very best tips.

In this week’s travel guide we’ve had a chat with Caroline Skjelbred and Magnus Thorud about Ibiza.

Caroline Skjelbred: – The most beautiful sunsets in the world

– The best thing about Ibiza is that it’s an incredibly vibrant scene with everything from fashion, music and interiors to food and spirituality, Caroline Skjelbred tells Melk & Honning.

– And not least the most beautiful sunsets in the world.

The Norwegian fashion personality is fashion director of ELLE Norway and has been to Ibiza countless times.

– I’ve stayed in lots of different places on the island. Now that I’m there with family and friends, we like to stay privately in the north-east of the island. Then we’re 10 minutes from lots of lovely places – shops, small towns, restaurants and beaches.

When it comes to places to eat, she highlights Passion Café.

– They have several locations on the island, and you get a fantastic breakfast, juices, smoothies and moon milks.

Skjelbred loves strolling around Vara de Rey in Ibiza Town, where, according to her, there are lots of nice clothes shops and small, unique cafés.

– And I love walking up to the old town, Dalt Vila, where the shop Annies Ibiza is a must!

She explains that the island is bursting with gorgeous restaurants.

– My favourites are La Paloma and a lunch or dinner at Los Enamorados. El Silencio is a new Ibiza favourite. Here you’ll find fantastic interior inspiration, a beautiful little beach, a Nanushka pop-up shop and good food. A visit to the beach bar Sa Trinxia, a glass of rosé while watching the sunset at Experimental Beach and a full day at the beach club Amante are also musts.

Skjelbred loves the food at the restaurant Layleh.

– Absolutely fantastic! The restaurant Ami Manera also has gorgeous food and a unique vibe. A boat trip to Formentera to eat paella at Juan Y Andrea is also a real Ibiza classic.

ELLE’s fashion director thinks Mondays at DC 10 are fun.

– This year I went to Circo Loco, which is their Monday concept and one of the longest-running club concepts in Ibiza.

– So many fantastic DJs play here, and you can go quite early compared with other clubs that don’t start until late at night.

– If you’re interested in a bit more spirituality, Namaste at Las Dallas is worth catching, but it only happens on Wednesdays.

She also always makes sure to visit one of the many markets there.

– Both to find completely unique things and to be inspired.

Still, Skjelbred thinks one of the most important things is to experience sunsets combined with lovely music.

– That’s a full Ibiza score for me!

– If you want a really beautiful sunset, a trip to Moon Beach (Caló de S’illa) is recommended. If you’re really lucky, someone will be playing drums there too. It’s absolutely magical!

Magnus Thorud: – It’s an island where you really get to be yourself, without anyone actually caring

– What’s unique about Ibiza is that the island is extremely diverse. There’s something for everyone, Magnus Thorud explains to Melk & Honning.

The London-based Norwegian is the founder of Infinite Agency and creative director of the jewellery brand Kolours Jewelry.

– Ever since the 70s, Ibiza has attracted creative and open-minded people, which still very much shapes the island today. It’s an island where you really get to be yourself, without anyone actually caring. This creates a very unique atmosphere and energy.

– That’s a big part of why I’ve travelled to Ibiza regularly for more than 20 years.

He has had an apartment in the marina in Ibiza Town for the last decade.

– I often travel to Ibiza alone, so I like being on this side of the island. Then you can easily walk into town in the evenings.

Thorud thinks that, in general, it’s an island where you need a car to get around and experience everything it has to offer.

– Everything is a drive away. For a first-time visitor the island can be a little hard to understand, because everything is spread out. But that’s also what makes it so unique. Ibiza has lots of secret spots.

– The list of things to do and see is so long that I could almost write a little book about the island!

According to him, it’s therefore important to decide before you arrive what you want to experience.

– And to do a bit of research. With all the variety, you need to do some googling. For anyone curious about Ibiza and what the island has to offer, I recommend @myibizaandformentera. She’s an icon and writes the best books about what you can find in Ibiza and Formentera.

Like Skjelbred, he loves having breakfast at Passion.

– This is actually my favourite café concept in the whole world!

– For lunch I prefer to be close to the sea. Places I really like are Chiringuito, Casa Jondal and Amante beach.

When it comes to dinner, Thorud says it depends a bit on what you’re doing afterwards.

– But my clear favourites are Casa Maca, Juls, La Paloma, Macao Cafe, Amalur and Chidas.

– If I’m going out after dinner, I highly recommend drinks on the Standard Hotel rooftop. It has the best and most iconic view up towards the old town.

If he’s keen to dance, it’s DC10’s Circo Loco on Mondays or Pacha Beduin on Wednesdays.

The fashion personality also has a couple of other tips.

– Take a boat from Ibiza to Formentera. Have lunch at either 10.7, Beso or Chezz Gerdi and catch the sunset from the sea on the way home. I have two favourite places to watch the sunset on the island: the iconic viewpoint Es Vedra and the new Silencio in Cala Moli.

– I also always head north on the island to visit Agora at Six Senses. It’s one of the best shops on the island, and next door is Los Anamorados, which also has an absolutely magical shop. Both are in Portinatx.

Over the last ten years he has really come to appreciate the slightly more alternative and spiritual side of the island.

Breathwork with Caroline Colding is among Thorud’s favourites. Photo: Instagram @christinacolding

– I’ve been introduced to lots of exciting things here! My all-time favourite is breathwork with the Danish @christinacolding, a local here on the island. She has put together a completely unique 90-minute session of meditation, breathing and sound healing.

– I absolutely recommend that everyone who visits the island tries this, he concludes.
