The classic autumn jacket has competition this year. This season, romantic bombers, defined waists and sporty pieces are all claiming a place in the wardrobe.

Autumn 2026 isn’t just about finding a jacket that goes with everything. This year, we want a jacket that shouts your personality and plays the lead role in the whole outfit. At the same time, this year’s trends point in many different directions. That’s why we’ve gathered six jackets that are leaving their mark on an autumn season that’s already well under way.
The bomber with a twist
The bomber jacket is still relevant, but it’s far more playful than the simple nylon version we know. At Simone Rocha it came in khaki with soft edges, while Burberry showed it in glossy silk, leather and faux fur. What we’re left with is a jacket that can be as much an adornment as outerwear.

We love the Lex Bomber Jacket from Camilla Pihl, NOK 6,900 HERE (Adlink)

We like it best when the contrast is allowed to be clear: a voluminous bomber over a romantic dress, or a glossy version with worn jeans. It’s the combination of sporty and dressed-up that makes it interesting right now.
The sculptural blazer
After several seasons of big, straight shoulders, attention is returning to the waist. Looking back at this year’s catwalks, Dior, for example, gave the iconic Bar jacket a new place in the everyday wardrobe. At the same time, Chanel and Givenchy played with proportions and nipped-in silhouettes.

Malina Blazer, NOK 4,899 HERE (Adlink)

Brook Blazer from Camilla Pihl, NOK 3,600 HERE (Adlink)

This is the blazer that does more than finish the outfit – it shapes it. Paired with loose jeans it feels less dressy, but keeps the full elegant look.
The leather jacket without the extras
The black leather jacket needs neither studs, big zips nor a complicated shape to make an impression. This autumn, it’s the clean lines that make it relevant.
O´tay leather jacket, NOK 4,399 HERE (Adlink)

Choose a style that fits well across the shoulders and has room for a thin knit underneath. A simple leather jacket against soft wool or lace gives exactly the mix of sharp and romantic that runs through this autumn’s fashion.
The suede favourite
Suede is still one of autumn’s most beautiful textures. The material gives brown, caramel and dark olive tones a softer expression and makes even a very simple jacket feel a little more polished.
Lauren Leather Jacket, NOK 6,900 HERE (Adlink)

The Winnie Leather Jacket has to be my all-time favourite suede jacket. An investment, NOK 8,500 HERE (Adlink)

A suede bomber has a relaxed attitude, while a straight style with a collar feels more classic. Both look great with denim. Both are also jackets we’d shield from the rainiest days.
The new military jacket
Prominent buttons, defined shoulders and a hint of 2000s nostalgia: the military jacket is back, but now as a deliberate statement piece rather than a costume from the indie sleaze years. Khaite and Isabel Marant are among the brands that have championed the silhouette for autumn/winter 2026.
This one from Neo Noir, now on sale at Villoid. NOK 1,349 HERE

Not the typical military jacket, but we loved Eleh’s take on the Militare jacket! NOK 2,899 HERE (Adlink)

It works especially well when the rest of the outfit is simple. Let the jacket provide the details, and stick to jeans, a white top or a long skirt underneath.
The windbreaker in full colour
The season’s most unexpected contender may also be the one best suited to a Norwegian autumn. The windbreaker has left the hiking trail and turned up on the catwalk in bold colours, new proportions and playful details. Loewe and Miu Miu are among the brands that have embraced it.

Ralph Lauren windbreaker, NOK 2,050 HERE (Adlink)

Track jacket, NOK 289 HERE (Adlink)

A colourful windbreaker over an otherwise muted outfit gives the autumn wardrobe energy without you needing to replace everything else. And when the weather turns, it’s a bonus that it actually does its job.
This autumn’s jackets range from strictly tailored to completely casual. Whichever jacket trend you go for, the same rule applies this autumn: the jacket is the outfit.
